Good Afternoon Wildcats,

Whitney High School will be administering the PSAT on Wednesday, October 16 for all Sophomores and majority of Juniors. The Preliminary SAT, also known as the PSAT/NMSQT® (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test), is a preparatory version of the SAT exam. The PSAT does not count for college admissions but it is a great way to practice for the SAT. If you are taking the PSAT as a Junior, remember that your score may qualify you for the National Merit Scholarship Program. Student guides for 10th graders will be delivered to homerooms later this week, please see your counselor if you do not receive one by this Friday. Juniors you must pick up your Student Guide in the College and Career Center at snack or lunch.

All 10th graders are automatically regsitered for the PSAT.

11th graders who want to take the PSAT should register with Donna Main in the Finance Office no later than September 30th, 2019.

On test day all Sophomores must report to the Gym, Juniors taking the PSAT should report to the MAC at 8:00 am. If you have a first period, you must attend your first period as usual and report to your testing location after first period.

What materials should students bring on PSAT test day?

A. Place all materials to be brought into the exam into a see-through plastic, ziplock baggie
B. Two sharpened #2 pencils, no mechanical pencils
C. An approved calculator (Four-Function calculator, scientific calculator, or Graphing calculator see PSAT student guide for details)
D. Current and valid school identification card (or print out from office before the day of the test)
E. Snack and label-less clear water bottle if desired. Label snacks and water with name.
*Please note: No electronic devices are permitted in the testing area! Backpacks and cell phones should be stored in student lockers before reporting to your testing location.
