Whitney's MUN in NY

Under the direction of advisor Steve Rosenberg and Secretary General Rishabh Shah, the
Whitney High School Model United Nations program achieved a monumental goal at the New
York City National High School MUN Conference (the largest MUN conference in the world) last
week. The four students representing Whitney’s program Jad Hagekhalil, David Tung, Chirag
Doshi, and Rishabh Shah spent three intensive days debating various issues ranging from
access to mental health care in areas of conflict to brain drain in the international community. For
the first time in Whitney history, the delegation received the highest award possible at NHSMUN,
the “Award of Distinction.” Out of 108 schools from more than 25 different countries, Whitney was
recognized as the best school to participate throughout the week. Additionally, seniors Rishabh
Shah and Chirag Doshi were chosen to address all participants in the General Assembly Hall in
the United Nations Headquarters and give a summary of what occurred in their committee, the
World Health Organization. The team of four and their faculty advisor Steve Rosenberg accredit
the recordbreaking success to the tremendous support from Whitney’s faculty, students, parents,
and the independent study MUN class.
